Fireworks at Weirs Beach this Friday Night!

Reminding everyone that there will be Fireworks at Weirs Beach this Friday, July 24 at 10PM (weather permitting, of course!)

WEIRS BEACH FIREWORKS 2009 - We need your help!

Did you enjoy the fireworks over Weirs Beach last summer?  Did you hear the huge crowds cheer and boats blasting their horns?  If so, we need your help!  Our annual tradition of Friday night fireworks over Weirs Beach is in danger of disappearing.  Funding of the fireworks each year comes solely from donations from area businesses and residents.  To keep this tradition alive in 2009, we appeal to you individually.  If you have viewed and enjoyed the fireworks shows over Weirs Beach, we ask for your contribution in any amount.  Help us save this summer tradition.  Please mail your donation to:  Weirs Action Committee, P.O. Box 5481, Weirs Beach, NH 03247.  Thank you for your consideration and support!

We’re Open for Business!

Weirs Beach celebrated it’s 9th annual “First Light” the other night…the annual tradition where the iconic “Weirs Beach” sign get lit to signal the start of the summer season!

WELCOME SUMMER 2008 - INNAUGURAL BLOG!

Hello Readers and Web Surfers Alike,

Welcome to the first, of what we hope turns out to be an exciting series of blogging ideas and topics of interest to you!  As President of the Weirs Action Committee, I was honored to be asked to write our very first blog! My problem was - what am I going to write about? Ideas ran through my mind as swiftly as young kids chasing the ice cream truck for the first time! THEN, it was clear: write about the Weirs Beach area! But what would I say?

That Weirs Beach has one of the most lovely public beaches found anywhere on Lake Winnipesaukee? That you can walk up & down the “Boardwalk” like back in the ’50’s & ’60’s and experience the arcades and shopping spots? This can’t be very interesting, because crowds of returning guests already know this! Perhaps I could talk about catching a daily cruise aboard the m/s Mount Washington or even the Scenic Railroad right from the Pavilion? NAAHH! - Everyone knows these attractions are here. I can’t write about the fabulous new restaraunts in the area; like the beautiful new Lobster Pound or the new Boston Seafood Shack & Moped rental business. (After all, they rent mopeds on Martha’s Vinyard & Nantucket… and how are those ventures working out over the years??) Anyway, people already know there is fine dining in the area - THIS IS NOTHING NEW TO WRITE ABOUT! Boy, the pressure is really on for me to write a snappy blog about Weirs Beach. I know… hot weather and ICE CREAM! I’ll bet people are unaware of the Kellerhaus! Actually, they have only been an attraction in Weirs Beach for about 100 years or so. Now that I think of it - more people probably know The Kellerhaus for their fabulous candy & gift selections. If you need ice cream by boat - I wonder if people know about Liliuokalani’s on Paugus Bay? I’m running out of ideas now.

To tell people there are power boat rentals, kayak & canoe rentals, JetSki rentals and even Harley Motorcycles available during your visit, is probably common knowledge! Everyone has heard of hiking on Mt. Major and the view from the top! How about the Rattlesnake Trail for another great family hiking experience? I’ll bet you didn’t know about the fabulous fireworks displays over Weirs Beach most Friday nights during the summer? If you decide to stay overnight here, people can see for themselves the newly updated Inns, Cottages & Motels from which to select great accomodations for a great value!  Updated deluxe rooms & cottages with traditional New Hampshire “charm!”…. descriptions like these are usually found in publications like Yankee Magazine. (PS: Visitors see us there also!) Oh Well - There is so much here in Weirs Beach for guests to enjoy for the first time or a lifetime. As Yogi Berra once said: ” No one goes there any more; it’s too crowded…” My only disappointment is that I couldn’t come up with something interesting to write about…

Come Visit Weirs Beach!
